Following an explosion that tragically claimed lives at a hospital in Gaza due to a missile fired from Gaza, hundreds of Lebanese protesters gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.

The incident was unrelated to Israel. To disperse the demonstrators, the police used tear gas. Protesters reportedly hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails, leading to a fire near the embassy.

The U.S. State Department, in response to the unpredictable security situation in Lebanon, has raised its Travel Advisory for the country to Level 4 – Do Not Travel.

Additionally, the department has authorized departure for select State employees and their families at the embassy in Beirut.

Authorized departure provides the option for certain individuals to leave on a case-by-case basis but does not constitute an “ordered departure,” which mandates leaving.
