San Francisco, under Democratic control, is set to implement a socialist “guaranteed income” program specifically targeting transgender individuals and undocumented immigrants residing in the city of California.
The city’s progressive initiative, known as the “Guaranteed Income for Trans People” (GIFT) program, places emphasis on supporting black and “Latinx” recipients. The program extends its reach to include illegal immigrants and individuals with a history of incarceration.
The City of San Francisco’s comprehensive plan, spanning 1,719 pages and disclosed by Judicial Watch, outlines the allocation of tax dollars to prioritize financial assistance for black and Latino transgender individuals. The initiative aims to provide monthly payments of up to $1,200 for a duration of 18 months to economically disadvantaged transgender residents, intending to address poverty.
To accommodate participants who may not have traditional bank accounts, the program utilizes pre-paid debit cards. The maximum amount an individual can receive is capped at $4,000.
Documentation, including details on the public website, reveals that the program prioritizes enrollment based on race and includes individuals involved in “survival sex trades,” those with a history of incarceration, and undocumented immigrants.
“The program will prioritize enrollment and retention of BIPOC [Black, Indigenous People of Color] trans and nonbinary people who also engage in survival sex trades, living with disabilities, elders, living with HIV/AIDS, undocumented, monolingual Spanish speakers, formerly incarcerated, and unhoused and marginally housed,” one document says.
The documents additionally specify that the enrollment process aims to guarantee that among the 55 participants, 66% will be BIPOC, which stands for Black, Indigenous People of Color. Moreover, the initiative strives for representation, with “at least 30% Black Trans Women and at least 20% Latinx Trans Women” among the participants.
“These disturbing new documents confirm how, among other leftist extremist policies, San Francisco is abusing tax dollars to give cash to individuals based on race and transgender quotas,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement.
The documents also outline the comprehensive support services, encompassing “gender-affirming primary medical and holistic care,” mental health services, and “gynecological and sexual health care.” Additionally, the program includes financial literacy training and workforce development services.
Correspondence from government officials, obtained by a conservative group, reveals discussions about allowing participants to use their chosen name instead of the legal name on their identification.
Mayor London Breed, a Democrat, asserted that the transgender community faces higher poverty rates and discrimination, making them the top priority for financial assistance in the city.
However, residents and small business owners in the city continue to be victimized by organized retail theft and vandalism.
Notably, certain homeless individuals, like veterans who don’t meet specific marginalization criteria, won’t receive assistance.
Fox News highlighted that the program offers over 130 gender, sexuality, and pronoun options, including options like ‘Zie/zim/zis,’ ‘Fae/faer/faers,’ and ‘Tey/ter/ters.’
This latest initiative from San Francisco’s leaders, perceived as out-of-touch, follows a pattern of identity-focused programs. Fox News pointed out a previous program offering income to “black and Pacific Islander mothers and pregnant people during and after pregnancy.” However, it seems that pregnant individuals are no longer the current focal point for the city’s woke officials.
