It appears that on a nearly daily basis, new polls are revealing that voters are beginning to realize that President Joe Biden may not be suitable for another term.
A recent Siena College poll conducted on Monday indicates that this sentiment is even growing in the traditionally liberal state of New York.
According to the survey, 70% of New York voters doubt Biden’s capability to lead. Interestingly, only 48% of Democrats expressed confidence in his ability to fulfill his duties.
The poll was conducted following a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur, which criticized Biden’s handling of classified information. The report contained troubling details suggesting that the president may have been unaware of key events during his time as vice president, including his son’s passing. The White House has refuted these claims.
However, the poll did not paint a completely negative picture for Biden. It revealed that 58% of New York voters do not believe former President Trump should serve another term. Moreover, 41% of respondents indicated a preference for a candidate other than Trump or Biden.
Siena pollster Steven Greenberg, said, “New York voters are not enthused about the likely major party presidential candidates.”
“While 61% of Republicans stick with Trump and 29% want someone else, only 46% of Democrats want Biden, compared to 38% who want another choice. Pluralities of white, Black and Latino voters all want their next president to not be named Biden or Trump,” he added.
“It’s worth remembering just how ‘blue’ New York is. Democrats have a 27-point enrollment advantage over Republicans, Biden beat Trump by 23 points in 2020, and no Republican presidential candidate has carried the state since Ronald Reagan in 1984, 40 years ago,” Greenberg added.
The poll figures for Biden are abysmal. If a majority of Democratic voters in a predominantly progressive state believe he is incapable of fulfilling his duties, then worries about his age are extending beyond the limited audience of Fox News viewers.
However, if Republicans are selecting a candidate who consistently falls short against Biden, it could be inferred that they are not choosing their most formidable contender.
