Leonel Moreno, a well-known influencer, gained widespread attention for his videos on social media platforms, where he provided guidance to illegal immigrants on exploiting squatters’ rights to acquire U.S. homes unlawfully. However, recent reports from the New York Post suggest that Moreno might now be facing charges related to firearms possession.
According to an exclusive report by the NY Post, internal federal documents have revealed communications between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), discussing potential charges against Moreno. Although the specific charges have not been confirmed, sources have informed the outlet that Moreno could potentially be in violation of a section of the Gun Control Act. This particular section prohibits parolees from possessing, shipping, transporting, or receiving firearms and ammunition.
In late March, Moreno’s video on TikTok went viral, where he advised illegal immigrants on how to exploit squatters’ rights and laws in the United States to “invade” vacant properties across the nation.
“I have thought about invading a house in the United States,” Moreno said. “I found out that there is a law that says that if a house is not inhabited, we can seize it. Guys here in United States also applies the of land invasion and I think that will be my next business, invading abandoned houses.”
According to the NY Post, it was revealed in the video that Moreno had unlawfully entered the United States through the southern border in April 2022. Despite this, he was granted permission to remain in the country under a parole program authorized by the Biden administration. However, after neglecting to attend his mandatory meetings with authorities and continuing to engage on social media, Moreno was apprehended near Columbus, Ohio on March 29.

According to John Fabbricatore, the former ICE Field Officer Director in Denver, if additional charges are brought against Moreno, it could potentially lead to an escalation of the case by federal authorities. This escalation may result in Moreno being detained for a longer period of time while still being held in the Geauga County Jail.
“Charges under [Gun Control Act section] 922.g are a serious matter and can result in significant legal consequences for Moreno,” Fabbricatore stated. “This should be a warning to any illegal aliens that possessing a firearm unlawfully will result in criminal charges and hopefully lead to a conviction.”
Furthermore, aside from sharing content related to squatting, Moreno also shared a different video on TikTok discussing the process of purchasing guns for American citizens. The influencer was filmed inside a gun store showcasing various guns for sale, providing information on prices, and expressing interest in buying either an AR15 or a glock.
