CNN anchor Boris Sanchez highlighted the recently published polling data indicating that Republican nominee Donald Trump is performing favorably among black and Hispanic voters, stating on Monday that this represents “welcome news” for the former president.

According to the New York Times/Siena poll released on Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris is ahead of Trump among black voters with a margin of 78% to 14%, and among Hispanic voters with a margin of 55% to 41%. These figures reflect a narrower gap compared to President Joe Biden’s leads of 87% and 65% among black and Latino voters, respectively, in the exit polling from 2020. Sanchez emphasized that Trump’s support within these two demographic groups is notably higher than what has typically been observed for Republican candidates in general elections.

“Among white voters, Trump is up by 15 points while Harris holds the advantage among black and Hispanic voters. Though Trump’s numbers with these voters is actually higher historically than most Republican presidential candidates have been, so that is actually welcome news for the former president,” Sanchez said.
