A man was apprehended on Saturday afternoon outside a rally for Donald Trump in Coachella, California, while in possession of both a shotgun and a handgun, with at least one of the firearms being loaded.
According to reports from the New York Post, the shotgun was confirmed to be loaded, while other sources indicated that the handgun was also loaded. It is undisputed that at least one of the firearms was loaded, and the individual, a 49-year-old resident of Las Vegas, was found to have a “high capacity” magazine in his possession. FOX LA reported that this individual possessed multiple driver’s licenses and several passports under different names.
He was taken into custody for the illegal possession of a loaded firearm and for having a magazine that exceeds the legal capacity allowed in California, which is recognized as the state with the strictest gun control laws in the United States.
The Daily Mail quoted the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office saying, “This incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or attendees of the event.”
