Texas Majority PAC, which has received substantial initial funding from George Soros, has significantly intensified its efforts to support Democratic candidates in Texas, as indicated by recent campaign finance disclosures.

Between July 1 and September 26, the PAC expended over $5 million, marking a substantial increase from the modest six-figure amounts it distributed at its inception, according to state records. Soros contributed approximately half of the $4.4 million that Texas Majority PAC raised during the period from July to September. This influx of funds comes at a critical time, as control of the House may depend on a few closely contested congressional races in the state, while Democratic Senate candidate Colin Allred is narrowing the polling gap with Republican Senator Ted Cruz.

“George Soros and the Democrats have known for years that if they flip Texas they change the course of our country forever, and that starts with unseating Sen. Cruz,” a Cruz campaign spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “The stakes could not be higher. Soros will continue flooding the State with outside money, which is why Texans need to show up on November 5th to hold the line and ensure that Texas remains our nation’s conservative stronghold.”

Cruz currently holds a narrow lead over Allred, with a margin of just 3.6 points, according to the latest average of polls from FiveThirtyEight. Allred has significantly narrowed this gap in recent months, having previously trailed Cruz by more than 6 points in June.

The Dallas County Democrats have emerged as significant beneficiaries of the Texas Majority PAC’s financial contributions, receiving approximately $1 million over the last three months, as indicated by the latest campaign finance reports. The county party is actively engaged in voter registration efforts, as well as funding initiatives for get-out-the-vote campaigns, phone banking, and door-to-door outreach. This investment in Dallas County could yield substantial benefits for Texas Democrats, as it resulted in a net gain of 291,500 votes during the 2020 presidential election, based on voting data from The New York Times.

A considerable portion of the spending by the Soros-backed PAC is focused on predominantly Hispanic counties that have increasingly leaned Republican in recent elections. Between July and September, Texas Majority PAC allocated over $1 million to the Democratic parties in Cameron, Hidalgo, and El Paso counties, all of which are majority Latino according to the latest Census data.

Election data reveals that both Hidalgo and Cameron counties shifted at least 20 points to the right from 2016 to 2020, while El Paso County experienced a 7.1-point increase in Republican support during the same timeframe. Additionally, Hidalgo and Cameron counties are situated within Texas’ 14th and 34th Congressional Districts, which are among the most competitive House races in the state, as reported by the Texas Tribune.

Republicans have steadily increased their support among Latino voters over the last three election cycles. In the 2016 election, they garnered 28% of the Hispanic vote, which rose to 32% in 2020 and further climbed to 39% in 2022, as reported by CNN exit polls.

In 2022, George Soros’ philanthropic organization invested tens of millions of dollars into left-leaning Latino advocacy and political mobilization initiatives. Among the beneficiaries of Soros’ funding were Equis Labs, which created several reports to guide Democratic campaigns on effectively reaching Spanish-speaking and Latino voters, and the Latino Victory Project, an organization dedicated to electing more progressive Latino officials. Additionally, Soros supported the Latino Media Network in its acquisition of 18 Spanish-language radio stations nationwide, leading to the departure of some conservative hosts due to concerns over editorial direction.

“It is no surprise donors like George Soros would be nervous about continuing to lose Hispanic voters cycle after cycle,” Republican Florida Sen. Rick Scott previously told the DCNF. “Today’s Democrat Party is all in for more government control and a socialist agenda. Many Hispanic voters understand the dangers of socialism from first-hand experiences and that doesn’t bode well for Democrats.”
