The Senate’s border legislation, crafted jointly by Senate Republicans and Democrats, will pave the way for 1.8 million individuals residing unlawfully to cross our border each year. House Speaker Mike Johnson expressed his strong opposition, stating that the legislation is destined to fail from the start.
Furthermore, this legislation aims to allocate substantial amounts of American tax dollars to Ukraine and Israel, enabling them to safeguard their borders. Meanwhile, our own border will remain vulnerable and unprotected.
“Mitch McConnell and James Lankford want Republicans to vote for an amnesty bill that only gives $650 million to finish the border wall, but gives $60 BILLION to Ukraine,” Donald Trump, Jr. wrote. “They really do put America Last.”
Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) claimed that the proposed bill constitutes an amnesty strategy that would effectively eliminate the boundaries of our nation.
“The Senate AMNESTY bill erases our borders,” Miller said. “Every Senator took an oath to uphold our laws, including our border security & immigration laws. The Senators want to allow 5,000 illegal immigrants to walk across our border per day. NO! This is AMERICA LAST!”
Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) has made it clear that she opposes the open border legislation and will not cast her vote in favor of it.
“It is against the law for an individual to illegally cross into our country — it’s incredible that still needs to be said. We are a nation of law and order, yet the Biden administration has allowed over 8.8 million illegal immigrants to flood our border,” Blackburn wrote on X. “I will never vote to make illegal immigration legal, and I will not support this deal.”
The border mandates would also be obligatory for upcoming presidential administrations as per the legislation.
“The Senate Amnesty Bill literally would force President Trump to let in illegals well into his term,” Rep. Matt Gaetz said. “Any Republican who votes for this is no better than a Democrat.”
Lawmakers were additionally appalled by the colossal sum of funding allocated for Ukraine.
“Fun fact, the U.S. Marine Corps budget in FY23 was $53.8 billion. This bill would give Ukraine more than $60 billion,” said Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT).
