Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential candidate, had his dog, Scout, participate in a media interview prior to Vice President Kamala Harris, who is the presumed nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

As of now, Harris has not officially spoken to the press or outlined her policies, 25 days after being endorsed by President Joe Biden. In contrast, Walz’s dog enthusiastically shared insights about his favorite toy and his most peculiar habit in an extensive Vogue article titled “Scout Walz Is Man’s (And Maybe America’s) Best Friend,” which was published on Wednesday.

When asked about his favorite meal, Scout told Vogue, “anything with peanut butter on it.” Walz’s dog has a proclivity for theft, admitting his worst habit is stealing cat food from his “sister,” Honey, and “stealing and eating Tim’s glasses.”

“If I can reach it, I can eat it,” Scout told Vogue when asked about his catchphrase.

The Walz family addressed inquiries regarding their dog, describing him as a “gentle giant” and a “big softie,” as they shared with Vogue. They expressed that Scout “rescued us as much as we rescued him.”

Vogue’s feature on Walz’s dog is included in its series titled “The Dogue Days of Summer,” which highlights the pets of celebrities. The publication devoted several introductory paragraphs to narrating the story of Scout, a rescue dog initially named Gene, whom Walz adopted on September 5, 2019, fulfilling a promise made to his son two years earlier. In a unique setting, Harris and Walz conducted a mutual interview without media presence. A nearly ten-minute video of their conversation was released late Thursday, covering a range of topics from “white guy tacos” to their “relationship with music.”

In a separate event, 2024 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a news conference at his Bedminster golf club on Thursday afternoon, marking his second press engagement since August 8.
