President Joe Biden drew a parallel between former President Donald Trump and Nazi Germany during his speech on Friday, marking a notable escalation in his rhetoric. This comes in the wake of media scrutiny over whether Biden would intensify his criticism towards his political rival for the 2024 elections. Addressing the audience at Valley Forge, where the January 6 protest was commemorated, Biden compared Trump to one of the most notorious regimes in history.

“Echoing the same exact language used in Nazi Germany, he [Trump] proudly posts on social media the words that best describe his 2024 campaign: “revenge,” “power,” “dictatorship.”

Biden referenced a word cloud that was crafted by the Daily Mail to illustrate the terms that participants linked with Trump, which Trump subsequently shared again.

“There’s no confusion about who Trump is and what he intends to do,” he added.

Furthermore, Biden emphasized that the fate of democracy hangs in the balance, highlighting the significance of the upcoming elections. This statement came in response to the Democrats’ efforts to exclude Trump from various state ballots.

“America, as we begin this election year, we must be clear: democracy is on the ballot,” Biden said at Valley Forge. “Your freedom is on the ballot.”

Numerous states encountered legal challenges aimed at obstructing voters from influencing election outcomes by excluding Trump from the ballot:

Oregon (case pending)
Michigan and Minnesota (Trump kept on the ballots)
Colorado (ruling stayed)
Maine (ongoing)

After delivering his speech, President Biden received a warm embrace from his wife, First Lady Jill Biden, Ed.D., just behind the microphone. With a smile on his face, Biden turned around and expressed, “I understand power.”
