The White House Briefing Room released a fact sheet yesterday in an effort to revive a $20 billion Senate bill, described as a “bipartisan agreement” that aims to offer essential resources at the border along with significant policy adjustments.
Hidden in the penultimate paragraph of the document was a revealing term. Rather than referring to illegal immigrants as “migrants” or “asylum seekers,” the Biden administration is now proposing to label them as “newcomers.”
“The bill also includes $1.4 billion for cities and states who are providing critical services to newcomers, and would expedite work permits for people who are in the country and qualify,” the fact sheet stated.
The House Republicans were quick to respond with a post on X. “The Biden White House is now referring to illegal immigrants as ‘newcomers.’ Joe Biden is not serious about stopping the illegal immigration into the United States. This is a catastrophe by design.”

The phrase “Catastrophe by design” hits the nail on the head – the nail being the funds the Biden administration plans to extract from the public. The language used in the statement indicates that Democrats are not focused on border security. The administration’s lack of seriousness in addressing illegal immigration highlights a disconnect with the concerns of everyday Americans.
