According to a report by Axios on Friday, President Joe Biden has adopted a fresh approach to divert attention from his walking style. Instead of walking alone, he now has aides accompanying him on the route from the White House to Marine One.
“With aides usually walking between Biden and journalists’ camera position outside the White House, the visual effect is to draw less attention to the 81-year-old’s halting and stiff gait,” Axios reported.
It noted, “Some Biden advisers have told Axios they’re concerned that videos of Biden walking and shuffling alone — especially across the grass — have highlighted his age.”
According to reports, the president’s team is of the opinion that the inclusion of walking aides has positively impacted the perception of his walk towards the helicopter, and they advocate for its continuation. In an effort to address concerns about his age, the implementation of walking aides is merely the most recent measure taken.
Additionally, President Biden has opted for shoes with enhanced support to minimize the risk of falling incidents. Moreover, he consistently utilizes shorter stairs when boarding Air Force One to mitigate the possibility of stumbling.
