White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre asserted on Monday that videos highlighting President Joe Biden’s age, gaffes, and recent awkwardness in public are considered “cheap fakes” and are being published in “bad faith.”

During the initial press briefing in approximately three weeks, journalists inquired with Jean-Pierre about whether the White House had concerns regarding Biden’s peculiar behavior, which seems to follow a consistent pattern.

The inquiries arose following a video on Sunday depicting former President Barack Obama guiding Biden off the stage subsequent to the president seeming to freeze at a fundraiser. A separate video from the previous week seemed to capture Biden straying away into the distance in Europe before Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni redirected him back to the assembly of world leaders observing a skydiving exhibition.

Jean-Pierre claimed that neither video was accurate, skillfully dodging questions regarding Biden’s well-being.

“Yeah. We, and I think you all have called this the ‘cheap fakes video,’ and that’s exactly what they are. They are cheap fakes video. … They are done in bad faith,” Jean-Pierre told reporters.

“Let’s not forget President Obama, President Biden, have a relationship. They are friends. They’re like family to each other, and I think that’s what you saw,” Jean-Pierre said of one video.

“Several recent fakes actually attacked the president for thanking troops,” Jean-Pierre referenced the video of Biden in Europe. “That is what they’re attacking the president for, both in Normandy, where this happened, and again in Italy.”
