House Republicans have reacted to the accusations by requesting that the Big Tech company reveal any influence from the federal government on the development of its Gemini AI program.

The Gemini AI program faced significant criticism when users discovered it had been designed with a peculiar and extreme bias against individuals of white ethnicity. Users can input a command into the program, and it will then produce an image based on the request.

For instance, when users requested an image of the Founding Fathers, the program depicted them as individuals of non-white descent. It seemed that the program was created to substitute most male figures with females and eliminate all individuals of white ethnicity.

Following the launch of Gemini last month, new evidence has surfaced indicating the involvement of the Biden administration in Google’s biased programming.

In light of this, the House Judiciary Committee, led by the GOP, has sent a letter to Alphabet, Google’s parent company, over the weekend, demanding clarification. The letter emphasizes the committee’s insistence on receiving any communication or correspondence that reveals any interaction between the Biden administration and Alphabet regarding Gemini. All requested records of communication must be submitted to the committee no later than March 17th.

Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH), the chairman of the committee, is the author of this letter. Within the letter, Jordan expresses the committee’s desire to obtain answers regarding the intentional manipulation of the AI model’s results against white individuals.

Jordan wrote:

“In light of new reporting regarding how Alphabet intentionally biased its AI model, Gemini, by giving it instructions that distort the results shared with Americans…we write to inform you that the committee views the subpoena as covering material relating to this technology.”

Reports coming from within the Gemini team have caused surprise, in the meantime.

It has been revealed that the project followed the Biden administration’s directives focusing on “equity.” This Marxist principle gives importance to uplifting historically marginalized communities, sometimes at the expense of precision or authenticity.

As a consequence, the AI technology frequently displayed visuals that overemphasized the presence of diverse individuals, disregarding factual accuracy.

Gemini’s depiction of historical figures, such as the Founding Fathers or soldiers from the revolution, as individuals of color or other minorities, and the decision not to portray them as white, led to widespread mockery that impacted Google’s stock value.
