This figure represents the highest number of migrant encounters ever recorded in the sector’s history, which oversees the Canadian border encompassing eastern New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Notably, this surpasses the total number of apprehensions in any previous fiscal year prior to the Biden administration.

Notably, the number of migrant apprehensions in the Swanton Sector has experienced a significant surge during the Biden administration. In fact, Garcia highlighted that the apprehensions in April alone exceeded the combined annual totals of both FY21 and FY22.
