The Border Patrol Union criticized Vice President Kamala Harris following her campaign visit to the southern border, marking her first appearance there as the Democratic presidential nominee.

During her trip to Douglas, Arizona, Harris made a stop at the border wall, which she had previously described as a “gross misuse of taxpayer money” and pledged to “block any funding for” during Donald Trump’s presidency. In her remarks, the vice president attributed the failure of a Senate bill—proposing $48 billion in support for Ukraine amid its conflict with Russia and nearly $16 billion for Israel in its struggle against Hamas—in part to Trump, while also linking it to the proposed reforms for border security.

The Border Patrol Union criticized Harris for neglecting the migrant crisis that she has been responsible for over the past three years, merely to deliver a 20-minute speech and participate in a photo opportunity during her campaign.

“Vice President Harris has ignored the border problem she created for over three years. She goes down there for 20 minutes for a photo op and decides to repeat some of the things the NPBC has said before. But again, where has she been the last 3 ½ years?” the Border Patrol Union wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The Border Patrol Union released two additional statements to fact-check Harris regarding her misleading assertions, which she presented as concern “38 days prior to the election.”

Art Del Cueto, the vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, issued a statement to Fox News’s Bill Melugin just hours prior to Harris’s arrival in Arizona, describing her delayed visit to the border as “a slap in the face.”
