A devastating blast has occurred at a prominent hotel situated in downtown Fort Worth, Texas, causing widespread destruction. Authorities have officially declared this incident as a mass casualty event. The Sandman Signature Hotel has been severely impacted by this unfortunate event.
Located within the hotel’s basement is the renowned Japanese restaurant, Musume. A member of the staff has vividly depicted the horrifying scene that unfolded amidst the chaos and devastation.
“Everything fell, the walls, the floor, everything,” he said. “It’s a miracle I’m alive.”
The Fort Worth Fire Department has reported a gas leak at the location of the explosion; however, they are unable to confirm if it was the actual cause of the blast. A total of 11 individuals have been transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.
“There has been an explosion incident in downtown Fort Worth this afternoon, and every Fort Worth emergency response agency is on hand responding,” Mayor Mattie Parker said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “We will provide more information as available. My heart and prayers are with those who were injured as we continue managing response.”
Musume’s co-founder Josh Babb, said in a statement to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, “All of us at Musume are devastated by the tragic explosion that took place this afternoon at the Sandman Signature Hotel, which is the home of our restaurant. Luckily, Musume was closed during the time of the explosion, so we had no customers dining and limited employees working. Three Musume employees were injured, but are being treated in the hospital and in stable condition.”
Numerous fragments were strewn across the thoroughfare, encompassing chunks of concrete and heaps of debris. Additionally, the visuals depicted an immense void in the pavement adjacent to the edifice. Fort Worth Police are strongly advising individuals to refrain from entering the downtown area.
