Republican House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) recently took action against Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

In a letter sent on Thursday, Jordan warned DA Willis of potential contempt proceedings. Willis, a long-time Democrat, has faced criticism for her handling of a case against former President Donald Trump, which many believe to be politically motivated.

The House Judiciary Committee had issued a subpoena to Willis on February 2, requesting records related to the oversight of federal funds used by her office. After Willis refused to accept the document via email, the committee had a United States Marshal deliver it in person. Despite this, Willis continued to resist cooperation, leading to Jordan’s letter on Thursday.

Willis had previously obtained an indictment against Trump and others in August for their efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election in Georgia, where Democrat President Joe Biden reportedly won by a margin of fewer than 12,000 votes.

“The Committee expects that you will produce all responsive documents to the subpoena in the categories prioritized by the Committee no later than 12:00 p.m. on March 28, 2024,” Jordan wrote in the letter to Willis. “If you fail to do so, the Committee will consider taking further action, such as the invocation of contempt of Congress proceedings.”
