“The fact that anyone still plans to vote for Biden is horrifying.”
Democratic Representative Tony Cardenas (D-CA) has surprised both colleagues and constituents by announcing that he will not seek re-election for another term in 2024. While stepping back from electoral politics, Cardenas suggested that he may continue to engage in public service.
His decision to retire marks him as the 20th House Democrat and the 30th member of Congress overall to make such an announcement, with 10 House lawmakers choosing this path in the current month alone. Many attribute these retirements to the perceived dysfunction and intense partisanship within the legislative body.
The Los Angeles Times reported on Monday that Rep. Cardenas has decided not to pursue re-election for another term next year. However, the report emphasized that despite his departure, the Democratic stronghold of California’s 29th District, encompassing a significant portion of the San Fernando Valley, will likely maintain its Democratic representation. “It will be the first time in 28 years that I’m not on the ballot,” stated the 60-year-old politician, who initially entered California’s Assembly in 1996.
“The truth of the matter is I thought I could do this just for a few years.”
“I’m just at the age where I have enough energy and experience to maybe do something [different] and have another chapter of a career where I don’t have to go to Washington, D.C., 32 weeks out of the year,” Cardenas added.
The Times highlighted that following three terms in the state Assembly, Cardenas proceeded to serve three terms on the Los Angeles City Council. Subsequently, he successfully ran for and secured a congressional seat in the 2012 election.
In a public statement shared on social media, Rep. Cardenas formally declared his choice not to pursue re-election in 2024, opting to retire from Congress at the end of the current term.
“It’s been an honor to humbly serve my community — the incredible people of the Northeast San Fernando Valley — during my 28 years of public service,” Cardenas said.
“I am grateful for the community’s trust and support to represent them in the California State Legislature, on the Los Angeles City Council, and the last 11 years as the Congressman of the 29th District.”
— Rep. Tony Cárdenas (@RepCardenas) November 21, 2023
He proceeded to acknowledge his Mexican heritage and emphasized the importance of public service instilled in him by his parents. The congressman also conveyed his optimism about the emergence of the “next generation of leaders.”
“I am confident that they will break through the extreme partisanship that has impeded progress and get back to delivering for hardworking Americans,” Cardenas added.
“The future for the Northeast San Fernando Valley, our state, and our country will be in good hands.”
Just two days before Rep. Cardenas announced his retirement, The Washington Post reported on the surge of retirement announcements from various members, both seasoned and newer, and anticipated more such announcements in the coming weeks and months.
While some of these announcements were surprising, The Post emphasized that the number of impending retirements was not notably unusual compared to other years. However, there was concern over the “quality” of experience that some of the departing members brought to Congress—some leaving due to age, others pursuing different offices, and some exiting politics altogether.
As highlighted in other media reports, many retiring members cited the dysfunction within Congress, exemplified by the prolonged speaker battles this year. They also pointed to the highly partisan atmosphere and the ongoing “constant brinksmanship” related to government funding and other legislative battles, including congressional investigations.

The democrats hatched this monster and now are losing control of it.”
Reports indicate that hackers are targeting the GPS systems of airplanes, leading to “critical navigation failures.” Over 50 recent incidents reveal cyberattacks on airplanes, including commercial jets. The Federal Aviation Administration issued a memo in September, warning of an increased “safety of flight risk to civil aviation operations.” OpsGroup, an organization of 8,000 international flight operators, disclosed this information.
The cyberattacks, known as GPS spoofing, involve manipulating the navigation system with fake coordinates.
While such attacks are not new, hackers have recently found ways to override an airplane’s Inertial Reference Systems (IRS), affecting critical position data provided by gyroscopes, accelerometers, and electronics for navigation. The surge in cyberattacks began in late August.
On October 25, a Gulfstream G650 departing from Tel Aviv encountered “full navigation failure,” deviating 225 nautical miles from its intended course, as reported. Additionally, on October 16, another flight departing from Tel Aviv faced GPS spoofing.
“The controller warned us that we are flying towards a forbidden area,” the report noted.
On that specific day, a Boeing 777 encountered GPS spoofing for approximately 30 minutes while flying over Cairo airspace. The concerning aspect of these attacks is that industry experts initially believed these systems were impervious to hacking. Now, there is uncertainty about how to safeguard against future cyberattacks of this kind.
“This immediately sounds unthinkable,” OpsGroup said.
“The IRS (Inertial Reference System) should be a stand-alone system, unable to be spoofed.
“The idea that we could lose all on-board nav capability, and have to ask [air traffic control] for our position and request a heading, makes little sense at first glance — especially for state-of-the-art aircraft with the latest avionics.
“However, multiple reports confirm that this has happened.”
OpsGroup stated:
“The industry has been slow to come to terms with the issue, leaving flight crews alone to find ways of detecting and mitigating GPS spoofing.”
Another aviation expert and former flight operations caption stated:
“Nefarious (though yet to be identified) forces are likely behind this, and the consequences could turn into an international crisis and possibly the loss of an innocent civilian aircraft in a region that is already a high-risk area near an active conflict zone.”

“It’s good to see that he actually cares about the people who defend the border and not just pay them lip service”
Yemen’s Houthis have released a dramatic video capturing the moment armed members of the Islamist group hijacked a cargo ship in the Red Sea. The Houthi terrorist organization alleges that the British-owned and Japanese-operated vessel, Galaxy Leader, has ties to Israel.
The Yemeni Military Media published the footage of the armed assault, in which at least seven masked and armed individuals take command of the ship. The terrorists arrive via helicopter, landing on the ship’s top deck, and the video suggests they successfully seize control. Following the takeover, the terrorists celebrate with Islamic chants and are seen hoisting both the Yemeni and Palestinian flags aboard the vessel.
On Monday, Al Masirah, a TV network controlled by the terrorist group, released footage of the hijacking incident. The Iran-backed group, Houthis, seized the Galaxy Leader, a car carrier, on Sunday and took it to a Yemeni port. The Houthis claim the ship is linked to Israel, but Israel has clarified that the seized vessel is British-owned and Japanese-operated. Japanese officials confirmed on Monday that the ship is operated by Tokyo-based firm Nippon Yusen and stated they were actively working to secure its release. The Japanese government is directly engaging with Yemen’s Houthis to address the situation.
Tokyo is actively engaging with Israel and directly communicating with the Houthis regarding the hijacking of the Galaxy Leader, as stated by Yoko Kamikawa, the foreign minister of Japan. Japan strongly condemns the ship’s hijacking and is urging Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iran, and other concerned countries to press the Houthis for the early release of the vessel and its crew members.
The ship, with over 20 crew members of various nationalities, had been en route from Europe to India without cargo, according to Nippon Yusen. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributes the hijacking to Iran, the backer of the Houthis, clarifying that no Israelis were on board, and Israel was not involved in its ownership or operation.
“This is another Iranian act of terrorism that represents an escalation in Iran’s belligerence against the citizens of the free world, with concomitant international ramifications vis-a-vis the security of global shipping routes,” his office said.

“Who is giving Potato Joe a positive approval rating? These people must be living on another planet.”
Republican Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) has expressed strong criticism of the Jan. 6 Committee, accusing its members of intentionally concealing information from the public. In response to the release of over 40,000 hours of unedited footage from the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, Senator Lee is calling for a comprehensive investigation into both former and current lawmakers associated with the House committee.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) initiated the release of the footage, providing a different perspective on the events of January 6 compared to the narrative presented by Democrats. The unedited videos depict the actions of protesters expressing dissatisfaction with the 2020 election results as they entered Congress.
Senator Lee took to Twitter/X to highlight the footage release and raise questions about the credibility of former Republican Representatives Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL). The videos have sparked significant public backlash due to their divergence from the anti-Trump narrative promoted by the Democrats.
“Why didn’t Liz Cheney and Adam Kizinger ever refer to any of these tapes?” Lee asked.
“Maybe they never looked for them.
“Maybe they never even questioned their own narrative.
“Maybe they were just too busy selectively leaking the text messages of Republicans they wanted to defeat.”
In a post on the platform, Senator Lee shared a video suggesting Capitol police officers assisting protesters in navigating the Capitol building on January 6, 2021. Another post on X accused Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger of being complicit in hiding the Jan. 6 tapes and likened them to individuals advocating for the reauthorization of FISA 702 without reforms.
Lee emphasized the need for an investigation into the Jan. 6 committee and criticized the committee as a whole, along with then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Pelosi established the select committee to investigate the events that transpired at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
“Given the evidence they apparently suppressed, how much footage (and how many other records) do you think Nancy Pelosi and the J6 committee deliberately lost or destroyed?” Lee questioned in one post.
In reply to a post by Cheney on Friday, featuring “some January 6th video” depicting confrontations between protesters and Capitol police, Lee stated:
“Liz, we’ve seen footage like that a million times.
“You made sure we saw that — and nothing else. It’s the other stuff — what you deliberately hid from us — that we find so upsetting. Nice try.”
“P.S. How many of these guys are feds? (As if you’d ever tell us),” Lee added in his response to the former lawmaker.
In another post, Lee wrote, “Taxpayer dollars funded the sham J6 committee.”
The Republican senator also shared a clip released on Friday that depicts an officer inside the Capitol on January 6, 2021, uncuffing and releasing a protester. In the clip, the protester can be seen giving a fist bump to another officer nearby at the time of his release.

“I walk through these doors every day — several times a day,” Lee wrote in response.
“I’ve never seen this happen.”
Speaker Johnson said in a statement:
“When I ran for Speaker, I promised to make accessible to the American people the 44,000 hours of video from Capitol Hill security taken on January 6, 2021.
“Truth and transparency are critical.”
Some footage was made public on Friday, and the rest is set to be gradually released over time, as stated by Johnson.
He emphasized that this decision to release the remaining footage is intended to provide various entities, including millions of Americans, criminal defendants, public interest organizations, and the media, the opportunity to witness firsthand what transpired on that day.
Johnson pointed out that around 5% of the footage might be withheld due to “sensitive security information related to the building architecture.” Additionally, faces may be blurred to prevent individuals from becoming targets for any form of retaliation.
The release is being coordinated through the House Administration Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight.

“We the people will vote for Trump AGAIN!”
Officials in Pennsylvania cited a “coding error” for an electronic voting machine flipping votes in a recent local election. This glitch is likely to intensify criticism of electronic voting machines, prompting renewed calls for a return to paper ballots.
“A coding error in Northampton County, Pennsylvania’s voting machines, caused a significant issue during a recent election. The glitch resulted in votes being incorrectly flipped on a ballot question concerning the retention of two state judges,” Resist the Mainstream reported.
The malfunction affected votes in the Pennsylvania Superior Court race, specifically for Judges Jack Panella and Victor Stabile, according to The Associated Press. County Executive Lamont McClure revealed that votes initially marked as “yes” to retain one judge and “no” for the other were incorrectly switched on printouts from touchscreen ballot machines.
The problem was notable, affecting more than 300 voting machines. Voters noticed the discrepancy upon reviewing printed records. The Pennsylvania Department of State confirmed that the issue was isolated to Northampton County and did not extend to other races.
“Panella’s votes will be returned to Panella, and Stabile’s will be returned to Stabile,” McClure said, downplaying the severity of the malfunction and referring to it as a “relatively minor glitch.”
“The county has pointed to the voting machine vendor, Election Systems & Software (ES&S), as the source of the error. Katina Granger, a spokesperson for ES&S, attributed the mistake to human error and emphasized that it was an isolated incident, affecting only the judicial retention question in Northampton County,” Resist The Mainstream added.
The use of electronic voting machines gained prominence after the 2020 election, marked by claims—lacking court-worthy evidence—from then-President Donald Trump’s advocates and attorneys suggesting votes were ‘flipped’ to Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
In January, former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake applauded an Arkansas county court’s decision to eschew electronic voting machines for future elections, opting for a return to paper ballots. This move aimed to enhance election integrity and foster confidence in the electoral process.
Lake shared the news of the Cleburne County court decision in a tweet, which also included a link to a KARK report outlining the ruling:
The Arkansas Voter Integrity Initiative Inc. (AVII) indicated that the decision responded to AVII CEO Colonel Conrad Reynolds’ advocacy to eliminate election computers from Arkansas elections. Consequently, the ruling mandates hand counting of votes.
“The machines do not read the names on the ballots, instead, they scan barcodes, which humans cannot read,” Reynolds said. “They also utilize proprietary software that we are not allowed to examine. This all means voters cannot verify that their vote is being counted properly as mandated by state law.”
An attorney associated with AVII highlighted that, as per Arkansas state law, individual counties retain the authority to determine their preferred voting methods.
Jacque Martin, a Justice of the Peace in Cleburne County, cast a vote in favor of transitioning to paper ballots. Martin expressed the sentiment, stating, “It’s time we take back and return to having elections we can have faith in – with transparency and integrity,” as reported by KARK.
Officials from AVII outlined their intention to advocate for the remaining 74 counties in the state to adopt paper ballots by the year’s end.
In her tweet, Lake said, “Americans in EVERY state and EVERY community must demand honest elections. No electronic voting machines, replace election month with election day and paper ballots that are hand-counted in small precincts. We demand honest & transparent elections NOW!”
