A teacher in Terre Haute, Indiana, was instructed to take down a Bible verse and a Latin cross from her classroom in response to a complaint from a “concerned parent.”
The English teacher at Honey Creek Middle School, who remains unnamed, had a cross and a passage from the Old Testament book of Jeremiah displayed in her classroom.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,” the verse states.
The Freedom From Religion Foundation, an organization of atheists and agnostic activists located in Wisconsin, sent a letter to the school, requesting the removal of the religious items. They claimed that these items violated the U.S. Constitution.
“In recognition of the district’s constitutional obligation to remain neutral toward religion, please remove this cross and bible verse display from [the] classroom, as well as any other religious displays [the district] becomes aware of in its schools,” FFRF’s Sammi Lawrence wrote to Supt. Christopher A. Himsel.
However, the Department of Education’s own guidelines support the rights of teachers to practice their faith on school property. Teachers retain their religious liberty even within the school environment.
“The display violated the basic constitutional prohibition by proselytizing students and creating the appearance that the district preferred religion over nonreligion, and Christianity over all other faiths,” the FFRF said.
To our knowledge, there were no reports of students spontaneously converting upon seeing the cross or the Bible verse, nor did the teacher conduct revival services in the classroom.
The school district’s attorney subsequently announced the removal of the cross and the Bible verse, effectively complying with the demands of the out-of-town atheists.
“Maintaining students’ constitutional protections is the duty of all public schools,” FFRF’s Annie Laurie Gaylor said in a statement. “A student looks to their teacher for guidance and support. Projecting religion onto them isolates nonreligious and non-Christian students.”
I suggest that the community of Terre Haute, including its churchgoers, come together to take action. Pastors should address this issue from their pulpits, while Sunday school teachers and youth pastors can organize peaceful protests.
Furthermore, it’s crucial for thousands of citizens to attend the upcoming school board meeting and make it clear to their elected leaders that they will not stand for attempts to remove religious symbols from the classroom by those who don’t believe in God.

(CBrief) – Former President Donald Trump’s name has surfaced as a favorite among some House Republicans to become the next Speaker after the ouster of Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) earlier this week, and he responded to those calls on Wednesday.
Fox News reported that Trump said he is focused on doing “what’s best” for the Republican Party after some GOP lawmakers suggested publicly that they would support him; you don’t have to be a sitting member of Congress to become Speaker, per the Constitution.
“Trump added that he has fielded numerous calls about assuming the vacant speakership, but suggested he was more focused on winning the presidential election,” the report said.
“He also said he would assist House Republicans with choosing a replacement for former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., who was ousted from the role in a dramatic vote Tuesday afternoon,” Fox News added.
Trump told reporters outside a New York City courtroom where he’s currently on trial in a civil fraud case filed by state Attorney General Letitia James: “A lot of people have been calling me about speaker. All I can say is we will do whatever is best for the country and the Republican Party. We have some great, great people. A lot of people have asked me about it.”
“If I can help them during the process, I would do it. But we have some great people in the Republican Party who would do a great job as speaker,” Trump added. “My sole focus is being president and, quite honestly, with actually making America great again. Because we are living in a country in decline. This is a country that is failing badly. We’re not respected in the world, interest rates are through the roof, taxes are through the roof, inflation is horrible.”
Fox News added:
The former president’s remarks came one day after McCarthy was voted out of his position. The motion to vacate the speaker was filed late Monday by Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., and joined by seven fellow Republicans and every House Democrat.
Following the stunning 216-210 vote, McCarthy said he wouldn’t run for speaker again. He served for just 269 days.
With the speaker position vacant, GOP lawmakers including Reps. Troy Nehls, R-Texas, Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., and Greg Steube, R-Fla., said they would support Trump to take on the role. The speaker of the House is not required to be a serving member of Congress.
“President Trump, the greatest president of my lifetime, has a proven record of putting America first and will make the House great again,” Nehls said in a post to the X platform.
MTG said she will only support Trump to be the new speaker.
“The only candidate for Speaker I am currently supporting is President Donald J. Trump,” Greene wrote on X. “He has a proven 4 year record as President of the United States of America.”
She added:
He will end the war in Ukraine. He will secure the border. He will end the politically weaponized government. He will make America energy independent again. He will pass my bill to stop transgender surgeries on kids and keep men out of women’s sports. He will support our military and police. And so much more! He has a proven 4 year record as President of the United States of America. He received a record number of Republican votes of any Republican Presidential candidate! We can make him Speaker and then elect him President! He will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!
The vote to oust McCarthy was 216-210, with eight Republicans siding with all present Democrats to remove him after a motion to vacate was filed by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.).

“I feel so bad for President Trump having to deal with all this clown work and bafoonery.”
An internal memo that recently surfaced has disclosed that the White House under Democrat President Joe Biden has implemented a policy prohibiting senior administration officials from participating in conferences that endorse the utilization of fossil fuels.
This directive, originating from the White House National Security Council (NSC), forbids senior administration members from traveling to international events focused on energy that promote “carbon-intensive” fuels, encompassing oil, natural gas, and coal.
The details of this prohibition came to light through a memo issued within the Department of Energy (DOE) on September 15, which was intended for internal distribution among DOE personnel. The author of the memo, Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk, outlined the travel restrictions and specified that officials must secure approval from the NSC before attending any global energy-related event.
“This guidance sets out a presumption that agencies and departments will pursue international energy engagement that advances clean energy projects,” Turk wrote in the memo.
“It also outlines a process for seeking limited exceptions to pursue carbon-intensive engagements on a justified geostrategic imperative or energy-for-development/energy access basis.”
“The guidance rules out any U.S. Government ‘engagement related to unabated or partially abated coal generation,’” he continued.
“Carbon-intensive international energy engagements are those ‘directly related and dedicated to the production, transportation, or consumption of carbon-intensive fuels that would lead to additional greenhouse gas emissions.’”
As per the memo, the term “carbon-intensive fossil fuels” encompasses coal, oil, and natural gas.
Furthermore, it’s mentioned in the memo that this guidance was put into effect in November 2021, and it applies to all international energy-related activities.
Deputy Secretary David Turk issued a separate memo in April 2022, providing initial details on how the Department of Energy (DOE) would adhere to the NSC guidance. It also specified that events promoting carbon-intensive fuels might only be exempt if they serve national security interests or are deemed crucial to providing energy access in regions with vulnerabilities.
Turk’s September memo updated that guidance, stating that for all future engagements, “Departments and Agencies are required to submit exemption justifications to the NSC and receive NSC concurrence before proceeding with a covered engagement.”
Since assuming office, President Biden has been actively advancing an environmentally-focused agenda aimed at combatting climate change. His administration has prioritized the development of green energy technologies such as solar and wind, with a corresponding effort to reduce the country’s dependence on fossil fuels categorized by the government as “carbon-intensive.”
To align with global climate goals, as outlined in Agenda 2030, President Biden has set ambitious targets, including a mandate that 50% of all new U.S. car purchases be zero-emission vehicles by 2030. Additionally, the administration has established a goal for the power sector to be entirely carbon-free by 2035.
However, it’s important to note that currently, over 99% of cars on U.S. roads are powered by internal combustion engines (primarily gasoline), with a similar percentage of new car sales being gasoline-powered, according to J.D. Power. Furthermore, roughly 60% of the nation’s electricity is generated from fossil fuels, particularly natural gas, while approximately 17% comes from renewable sources like wind and solar power.
Now, to fully grasp the essence of this whimsical tale between Trump and Haley, we need to rewind a bit to the GOP debate. A platform usually filled with rehearsed speeches and politically correct dialogues, saw a rather cheeky twist from the former president.

“Got to love our President!”
During a recent House hearing, there was a heated exchange between Representatives Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.). The confrontation began when Democrats accused Greene and Republicans of displaying explicit content during the proceedings.
The initial source of contention can be traced back to a hearing that took place in July, during which the Georgia Republican made allegations about Hunter Biden’s involvement in sex trafficking. At that time, she presented several sexually explicit images that were purportedly obtained from Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop.
Concerned that a similar incident might occur again, Representative Jamie Raskin (D-Md.), who is the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, attempted to prevent MTG from showing more explicit material as she reached for an enlarged photograph during a hearing held late last week.
“Mr. Chairman, our colleague from Georgia has introduced before pornographic exhibits and displayed things that are really not suitable for children who might be watching,” Raskin said.
“A bathing suit is not suitable, Mr. Raskin?” MTG fired back.
“Well, I’m saying, I would like the witness, I would like the member to be instructed to not introduce any pornography today, at least without running through the chair first,” Raskin continued.
“A bathing suit is not pornography, Mr. Raskin,” Greene answered contemptuously.
Raskin then said he couldn’t see what Greene was doing and added that her materials were not previously provided to Democrats. She responded: “It’s on the internet. It’s everywhere.”
AOC then took that as her queue to step in.
“You are submitting a naked woman’s body,” Ocasio-Cortez said.
“This is a bathing suit. It’s a bathing suit,” Greene admonished.
“And it has not been cleared before this committee,” Ocasio-Cortez riffed.
“You don’t have your glasses on. Do you wear them or not?” Greene fired back.
“I have contacts on, thank you,” Ocasio-Cortez said in response.
“Oh, congratulations,” Greene mockingly added, ending the exchange.
