An aide to New York Attorney General Letitia James is under investigation for potential criminal charges related to vandalism, as per a recent report. Assistant Attorney General Stacey Hamilton is at risk of being charged with criminal mischief for allegedly damaging a neighbor’s car by throwing an unidentified liquid on it in November.

Hamilton’s attorney has accused Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ office of showing bias, despite the fact that an independent special prosecutor has been assigned to the case.

In recent times, James and her team have garnered national attention for bringing civil fraud charges against former President Donald Trump and his organization. This legal action led to a successful lawsuit for business fraud against the former president, resulting in an initial judgment of over $464 million, later reduced to $175 million.

“However, the purported charge against Hamilton is entirely unrelated to Trump, instead involving an alleged dispute or incident between the assistant attorney general and her neighbor,” Newsweek reported.

“Hamilton, who has worked for multiple state government agencies in the Empire State, denied to The Times Union that she had been charged with any crime, purportedly telling the paper’s reporter over the phone that they ‘really need to actually do some investigating,’” the outlet added.

The police were informed about an act of vandalism by a neighbor on November 16th. As reported by the Times-Union, the neighbor alleged that Hamilton had poured unidentified substances on the neighbor’s car, causing damage to the paint. According to Kevin Gagan, the attorney representing Hamilton, the assistant attorney general was reportedly attacked by the girlfriend of the car owner on the same night as the alleged vandalism. The girlfriend is currently charged with misdemeanor assault.
