The Mayor of Denver, Colorado, who belongs to the Democratic Party, is implementing a strategy of “shared sacrifice” reminiscent of wartime measures, rather than addressing the issue of welcoming tens of thousands of illegal migrants.

Mayor Mike Johnston (D-CO), along with other Democratic mayors of major cities, is also banking on the idea that this sacrifice imposed on Americans will encourage higher voter turnout against former President Donald Trump.

Johnston made these remarks during a press conference on February 9, just three days after a Republican rebellion thwarted a proposed immigration deal put forth by Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY). McConnell’s proposal aimed to open the borders to a government-directed influx of migrants and allocated $5 billion to assist these migrants in settling in various cities and towns.

Johnston, who has already provided assistance and support to 35,000 undocumented immigrants, described this as a strategy for collective sacrifice, while criticizing the Republicans’ stance on protecting American citizens:

“I’m here to talk a little bit about the devastating impact of the failure of Republican leadership in Congress this week to pass regime change, and the impact that will have on both city budgets and on services that we can provide for newcomers in the city … we will start to have to greenlight a set of hard decisions on budget reductions across the city to meet those costs that we know will continue to arrive.”

In February, the Congressional Budget Office released a report that further substantiated the impact of the establishment’s migration policy on family wages, workplace investment, and political focus. The report highlighted how this policy tends to favor Wall Street, real estate, coastal states, and government, while diverting attention from American communities.

An illustrative example can be seen in Denver, where the influx of 20,000 hospital visits by the Democrats’ wave of impoverished migrants resulted in the partial shutdown of a city hospital, as reported by Breitbart News in January.
