To subtly subjugate a population, the most effective method is to diminish their intellect and then manipulate their thoughts. Although this notion may resemble a line from the popular series “The Boys,” it is not. In reality, the current state of affairs is far more intriguing and ominous than any television show.

In truth, progressive educational unions are actively working towards lowering the intellectual capacity of students in order to instill their own beliefs. Recently, the Chicago Teachers Union and its progressive allies organized an event aimed at encouraging students to participate in political activities. This event was promoted as a “day of political engagement” for students, as reported by Illinois Policy, an organization advocating for civil and personal liberties. According to WLS-TV, the Chicago Votes parade led CPS students to the polls as a response to the ongoing “Bring Chicago Home” debate.

The youth vote holds the potential to determine the fate of the controversial referendum. This event was a collaborative effort between the Chicago Teachers Union and progressive groups advocating for tax hikes, such as Bring Chicago Home, Chicago Votes, and La Casa Norte. CTU urged teachers and other members to mobilize voting-age students to partake in this “day of political engagement.”

Illinois Policy caught wind of the event before it occurred and called it out for what it was. “The Chicago Teachers Union is planning to herd students to the polls to vote for Brandon Johnson’s real estate tax hike.”

The event was set to take place on March 15, just a few days prior to the March 19 vote where Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s proposal for a real estate transfer tax increase will be decided upon. Recruiting students for political advocacy could potentially breach school district regulations that clearly prohibit students from being gathered like livestock to attend political gatherings during school hours.

This action may also be considered a violation of the CPS Code of Ethics, which explicitly states, “Employees are allowed to participate in Political Activity voluntarily outside of work hours, vacation, or personal time. Employees are not allowed to engage in Political Activity during any other time compensated by the Board,” as detailed by Illinois Policy.

Political activity, as defined by the CPS Code of Ethics, includes “Preparing for, organizing, or participating in any political meeting, political rally, political demonstration, or other political event.” Illinois Policy lodged an ethics complaint against the Chicago Teachers Union before the event took place, as reported by WGN-TV.
