The death of country music star Toby Keith has sparked a resurgence of old feuds on the left. Some individuals are celebrating his passing by resurrecting his previous conflicts with the Dixie Chicks, suggesting that Keith’s death somehow signifies a triumph for the all-girl band. Meanwhile, others on the left are commemorating Toby Keith’s demise by revisiting his political feud with fellow singer Kris Kristofferson.

Toby Keith passed away peacefully on Monday at the age of 62 after battling stomach cancer. In a statement, his family requested privacy and expressed gratitude for the support they have received. They described Keith as a courageous individual who fought his illness with grace. As a country music star, Toby Keith was known for his unwavering patriotism and masculine image. He released several hit singles, including “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue,” “I Love This Bar,” and “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.”

However, his unapologetic public persona made him a target for criticism from the left, who attempted to undermine his music.

In 2003, Natalie Maines of the Dixie Chicks publicly criticized Keith’s song “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue,” labeling it as “ignorant.” Keith responded by displaying an image of Maines alongside Iraq’s Saddam Hussein during his concerts. Later, Maines attended the ACM Awards wearing a shirt that read “FUTK” – an explicit message directed towards Toby Keith.

This week, those who harbor animosity towards Keith on the left celebrated his death, using social media to portray it as a long-awaited victory for the Dixie Chicks.
