Thee outlet notes : “Musk’s efforts threaten to deal a devastating blow to Biden and Democrats, who are already mired in an intraparty battle of the president’s political future.”
Elon Musk’s reported donation has been revealed amidst his growing criticism of President Biden and his administration’s policies. Musk has also disclosed that former President Trump contacted him unexpectedly in the past.
In a CNBC interview in May 2023, Musk expressed his view that the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story amounted to “election interference.” Despite previous disagreements with Trump, Musk criticized Trump’s Truth Social platform as a “rightwing echo chamber” in October 2022, only to reinstate Trump’s account on X (formerly Twitter) a month later.
Musk has also predicted that Trump would win a “landslide victory” if he were to be arrested, following Trump’s conviction in May on multiple counts related to payments to Stormy Daniels. Musk warned that the verdict set a dangerous precedent for former presidents.
It was noted that some of Trump’s proposed policies could have an impact on Tesla. Trump has specifically criticized Biden’s electric vehicle rule, claiming it would harm Michigan’s economy and pledging to eliminate the EV mandate. After the presidential debate on June 27 between Trump and Biden, Musk described both candidates as mere “talking puppets.”
