Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) inaccurately asserted that he is a “retired Command Sergeant Major” in a recently surfaced video from 2009, which he recorded as a Congressman for soldiers from his former division who were deploying to Iraq. This video has come to light following the removal of references to Walz’s retirement as a command sergeant major in the National Guard from his official biography by Kamala Harris’s campaign, amidst a continuing controversy.
As Breitbart’s Kristina Wong reported, Walz’s “rank was reduced to master sergeant since he did not finish the requirements to retire as a command sergeant major. Despite this, he has boasted about retiring as a command sergeant major on multiple occasions.”
Walz documented the message for the division in which he claims to have served prior to his retirement.
In the 15-year-old video, Walz says, “As a 24-year veteran of the national guard and the Red Bull Division, and a” – he paused – “retired Command Sergeant Major, I’m especially proud of you.”
